I am glad I stumbled on your web site. It is very well done. I have been working on a series that is very similar to what you’re doing here. It is called “The Koans of Seeing”. The Koans of Seeing is a series of visual koans that can only be responded to authentically, by the photographer, in a photograph. No thought, conceptual idea, or analytical process can solve the koan. An authentic photograph is one that is taken by the artist with no conceptual, cultural, or copied residual vision or thought. Authentic response is always intuitive and original. Examples are; Infinity, Seeing Through, The Blank Wall, How long is a Moment?
To combine words and images from ordinary life that illumine beauty, uncover wisdom, instill hope, and honor the sacred.
Our Method
Sometimes the words come first, sometimes the image. The photograph, however, is not made to illustrate the thought, nor are the words composed to explain the image. They are meant to exist in synchrony, together pointing toward that which is real and true, even though it be wrapped in mystery.
Our Host
In years past Jim Miller has been a minister, grief counselor, author, audiovisual producer, and spiritual director. Today he dabbles in writing, photography, and public presenting. Tomorrow, who knows?
